JEE Main 2024 Counselling process

Here is a simplified guide to understanding the JEE Main 2024 Counselling process:

Stage 1 : JEE Main 2024 Counselling Registration

  • Visit the official website of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) at
  • Register or sign in using your JEE Main 2024 application form number and password.

Stage 2: Choice Filling

  • After logging in, select your preferred institutes and courses.
  • It is advised to choose as many options as possible to increase your chances of admission.

Stage 3 : Final Seat Allotment

  • JoSAA will conduct six rounds of seat allotment based on merit and seat availability.
  • The final seat allotment results will be released online.
  • Download the provisional seat allotment letter if a seat is allocated to you.

Options After Seat Allotment

  • Freeze: If you are satisfied with the allotted seat and do not want to participate in further rounds.
  • Float: If you are satisfied but still want to participate in the subsequent rounds.
  • Slide: If you want to accept the allotted seat but are open to a higher preferred course in the same institute.

Stage 4 : Paying the Seat Acceptance Fee

  • Candidates who receive a seat allotment need to pay the seat acceptance fee online.

Document Verification Process

After accepting the allotted seat and paying the acceptance fee, candidates must undergo the document verification process. The following documents are required for verification:

  • JEE Main 2024 Seat Allotment letter (Provisional)
  • 4 passport-size photographs (same as used during JEE Main 2024 application)
  • Government-issued ID card
  • Proof of seat acceptance payment
  • Date of Birth (DOB) proof (10th class certificate)
  • JEE Main 2024 Admit Card
  • 12th class marksheet

The JEE Main 2024 counselling registration and choice filling are expected to start on 19th June 2024.

Candidates who have qualified based on their JEE Main 2024 score are eligible for counselling.

The eligibility criteria include All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main, minimum 75% marks in Class 12 examination (65% for SC/ST candidates), pass in each subject of Class 12, and qualifying percentile determined by individual institutes.
